Pobitora (Pure) Wildlife Sanctuary situated in Morigaon district of Assam covers an area of 38.8 sq km. Situated at distance of 50 km from Guwahati, the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary has been making waves due to its excellent habitat for one horned Rhinoceros.

The Pobitora Rhino breeding programe has been so successful that the Park has exceeded its rhino-bearing capacity and is overpopulated. Besides the Rhinos Asiatic Buffalo, Wild bear, Leopard, and wild cats are also provided the protection and care of the Sanctuary. Over 200 migratory birds find a place of right at the marshy lands at Pobitora. The reptile family also stakes its claim and is found in abundance inside the Sanctuary. Though the animals are comfortable round the year it is recommended that a trip to Pobitora would be most fruitful during mid October to March end.
