Short Overview:
Sri Krishna Museum was established in 1987 by Kurukshetra Development Board and is based in Kurukshetra of Haryana. Sri Krishna Museum is the only museum in the world which is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The museum, unravels the mystique of the cult of Lord Krishna. It endeavours to present the multifaceted personality of Krishna as narrated in the episodes of Mahabharata and the Bhagvata Purana. The museum has six galleries, three each in two blocks. On display are stone sculptures, bronze castings, leaf etchings, miniature paintings, clay pottery and terracotta artifacts.

Bhagavad Gita was rendered by Lord Krishna at Kurukshetra. Conceived by Gulzari Lal Nanda, two blocks of Shri Krishna Museum at Kurukshetra have six different galleries which present and preserve ideals associated with Lord Krishna.

The main attraction here is the huge paintings depicting the battle of Kurukshetra. Wood carvings, metal castings, ivory carvings dedicated to Lord Krishna are the main attraction in the first gallery.
Second gallery consists of archaeological objects associated with Lord Krishna. Miniature paintings, palm leaf etchings, Pahari and Rajasthani paintings, murals and illustrated manuscripts are part of the third gallery.
Important episodes in the Life of Krishna are presented in nine tableaux in the fourth gallery. Various episodes in the Mahabharata form the theme for the fifth gallery. The sixth gallery is also dedicated to various forms of regional paintings dedicated to Krishna.
