Short Overview:


Shembaganur Museum of Natural History houses 
amazing collection of more than 500 species of taxidermy 
animals, birds and insects and a living collection of over 300 exotic orchid species. A Theological Seminary was founded in1895. It is devoted to the archaeological remains and the 
flora and fauna of the hills. The Flora and Fauna Museum is maintained by the Sacred Heart College. The museum also 
has a herbarium with a beautiful garden along it.

It is located very close to Kodaikanal Lake, the Shembaganur Museum of Natural History is a theological museum created in the year 1895 and is maintained by Sacred Heart College. The museum is famous for its wide collection of numerous specimens of butterflies, moths, snakes and mammals. A haven for anthropologists, the museum is also fames for its orchards which s home to an amazing collection of over 500 species.  One of the best orchidoriums in the country with more than 300 species of orchids is also housed here. This Shembaganur Museum of Natural History has an impressive collection of stuffed-birds and the butterflies.
