Thiruthani Murugan temple is located at Thiruttani on a hill having 365 steps. It is one of the Arupadaiveedu, the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan, Tiruttani is a town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the main tourist centers in Thiruvallur district about 84 km from Chennai. Thiruthani Murugan Temple is one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga. Tiruthani is 15 km from Andhra Pradesh state. Nearby famous temples are Madhur Arulmigu Mahishasuramardhini temple, Nallatur Arulmigu Veera Anjaneya temple, Arulmigu Arumugaswami temple and Sholingar Narasimma swamy temple.

Thiruthani Murugan temple is the world famous temple dedicated to Lord Murugan in the form of Subramaniya Swamy, popularly known as Thiruthani Murugan Temple. It is one of the ancient temples and was built in the 9th century. This beautiful temple is perched on a hilltop which is reached by climbing 365 steps.
A small river called Nandi is flowing through this holy land. It is a holy village and one of the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan located in Thiruvallur District. These holy abodes are called ‘Arupadai Veedu’. The other five holy abodes are namely Palani, Swamimalai, Thiruparangkundram, Pazhamudhirsolai and Thiruchendur. The temple attracts several devotees throughout the year.
Devotees throng this place to seek blessings of Lord Murugan. Saravana Poikai is otherwise known as Kumara Theertha is another prominent attraction in Thiruthani. It is closely situated to Kumara Theeratha or Saravana Poigai. Adi Krithigai, Shasti Thiruvalla and Shivarathr are major festivals celebrated here.
