Snake Park and is located at Raj Bhavan, next to the Children's Park in
the Guindy National Park campus. Guindy Snake Park, a protected area in Tamil Nadu, has a wide range of
flora and fauna in its premises. This park has
snakes, tortoise, reptiles and even mites, earthworms and scorpions. With over
130 species living here. It gives the best possible natural habitat to the
animals
The Guindy Snake Park is located nearby Guindy National Park
at Adyar, in the suburbs of Chennai. The Park is home to as well as a breeding
centre for diverse species of snakes, lizards, crocodiles and turtles. It has
more than 30 species of Indian snakes like King Cobra, Indian Rock Python,
Reticulated Python, Adders, Vipers,etc.
It was Romulus Whitaker, who founded
the Snake Park in 1972 to conserve the endangered species of snakes found in
the Indian sub-continent. Guindy Snake Park, which was recognized as a Medium
Zoo in the year 1995, is maintained by the Madras Snake Park Trust. It consist of the huge variety of over 350 kinds of lush green
fauna and is an incredible place to be for the nature lovers. The park is
extremely popular with the children as it is a sheer joy to see so many
spectacular plants and living beings together under one roof.
