Valluvar Kottam is a monument to the memory of the great Tamil poet Saint Tiruvalluvar, who wrote the famous Thirukkural. This monument was built in 1976.

The monument is shaped like a temple chariot and is a replica of the Thiruvarur temple chariot. The temple tank was installed with a life-size statue of Thiruvalluvar. The Valluvar Kottam is one of the modern monuments of the city of Chennai. All the 133 chapters of the famous work of Tiruvalluvar. The Valluvar Kottam also has an auditorium, which is said to be the largest in Asia and can accommodate about 4000 people. The Valluvar Kottam is a modern monument to the great Tamil poet who represents the glorious culture of the Tamils. Over 3,000 blocks of stone were used to build this memorial to Tamil culture. Visitors are amazed when they behold this massive monument standing without a single pillar, functioning as an auditorium seating 4000 people.
