Church Of Our Lady Of Light / Luz Church, Mylapore:

Luz church, Chennai
"Luz church, Chennai" by Simply CVR - originally posted to Flickr  yb wikimedia
The church of Our Lady of Light also known as Luz Church Built in 1516 by the Franciscan missionaries from Portugal in honour of Mother Mary in 1516 and was renovated to its original form under the British rule, it is one of the oldest Churches in the city and its foundation stone marks as one of the oldest European monuments in India. The church is located very near to the Santhome Basilica, where Apostle Thomas is believed to be buried. This church is also known as the 'Kaatu kovil' (Church located in a forest) the now busy Luz area was in early days supposed to have been filled with mangroves, where St. Thomas is believed to have once rested.  The facade of the church belies the splendor of its baroque interiors with its gilded altars, the fine tracery railings of the pulpit and choir, the original polychrome Santos and frescoed ceilings. The Luz Church reflects the fashions and trends of typical European ecclesiastical architecture. The Gothic arches and flying buttresses, baroque ornamentation and elegant classical lines, have been heavily influenced by European style.

The Luz Church is a fine example of the Portuguese, impressive attempts to replicate their great churches in remote lands. The feast of Our Lady of Light is celebrated on the 15 August every year. On 15 August, 2010, Church of Our Lady of Light was declared Shrine of Our Lady of Light by A. M. Chinnappa, Archbishop of Chennai –Mylapore.

Attractions Of Chennai: Santhome Casthedral Basilica

Santhome Casthedral Basilica:

Santhome Cathedral Basilica
flickr: The Santhome Cathedral Basilica

The Santhome Cathedral Basilica in Chennai is a holy place, especially for the Catholic Christians.  Santhome was a small settlement of the Portuguese who arrived in the Mylapore shores in the 16th century. There are three places in chennai that stand out as monuments of honour, speaking aloud about the presence, activity and the martyrdom of St. Thomas, the Apostle of India. They are 1. Little Mount, 2. St Thomas Mount, 3. San Thome Cathedral Basilica. The National Shrine of St. Thomas Basilica is built over the tomb of Apostle St.Thomas.  St.Thomas one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, martyred in A.D.72 and was buried here in  Mylapore. The architecture of this cathedral has been executed in accordance to the gothic style.

San Thome Basilica is the tamil version as named after Saint Thomas located  at the south end of Marina Beach. History encrypts that he had come to India in 52 AD and after preaching on the West Coast, he came to Chennai, and suffered martyrdom on a hill at the outskirts of the city, today known as "St. Thomas Mount in 78 A.D. His body was buried on the spot over which the present Basilica stands. This Cathedral Basilica is a matter of pride to the nation and to all of us, because it is built over the tomb of an Apostle of Jesus Christ. There are three Basilicas, all over the world, that are built over the tomb of the apostles. The first one is St peter's Basilica in Rome, the second one on the tomb of St James, and the third one is the tomb chapel of St Thomas in San Thome Cathedral Basilica in Chennai.

The cathedral has been built in a typical neo Gothic style. The 50 meters high building has been constantly renovated, following the ravages made by the time. An important fact regarding the cathedral is that, it is the second only church in the world that has been erected over the burial place of an apostle. The cathedral holds a 3 foot high statue of Virgin Mary, believed to be imported from Portugal in the year 1543 A.D. The Cathedral Basilica was restored and consecrated on 12th December 2004 by the Apostolic Nuncio his Excellency Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana and Cardinal Ivan Dias of Mumbai. On  8th September 2005 the present Archbishop of Madras Mylapore His Grace, Most Rev Dr. A M Chinnappa SDB DD, PhD issued a decree officially elevating this Cathedral parish as a Shrine of the Archdioces.

What Is 4G ?

4G Information:

fourth generation 4G, is the fourth generation of mobile telecommunications technology, well yes it's advance of 3G. It was developed by two 4G candidate systems are the
Mobile WiMAX standard ( 2007)  &
first-release Long Term Evolution (2009)
WiMAX smart phones becoming available during 2010,
LTE smart phones arriving in 2011. 3G and 4G equipment

4G has a quality to supply 3D television, smart gaming, HD gaming, cloud computing, along with that even when you download OR surf on INTERNET you will get 11x speed. than 3G.

it will up to 50mb/s -100mb/s . 4G has a capability to proven your experience highly smooth like touch & open. 4G technical requirements is different than 3G Read below for more.. currently in
US 4G system enables with 4G LTE system and where 4G is not available " 3G " is helping hand.

Technical Scenario:

Setting peak speed requirements for 4G service at 100 megabits per second (Mbit/s) for high mobility communication (such as from trains and cars) and 1 gigabit per second (Gbit/s) for low mobility communication (such as pedestrians and stationary users).

As seen below, the spread spectrum radio technology used in 3G systems, is useless in all 4G candidate systems and replaced by OFDMA multi-carriertransmission  and other frequency-domain equalization (FDE) schemes, making it possible to transfer very high bit rates despite extensive multi-path radio propagation (echoes). The peak bit rate is further improved by smart antenna arrays for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications.

Scopes:

The renovation of the generations generally refers to a change in the fundamental nature of the service, non-backwards-compatible transmission technology, higher peak bit rates, new frequency bands, wider channel frequency bandwidth in Hertz, and higher capacity for many simultaneous data transfers (higher system spectral efficiency in bit/second/Hertz/site).
